Orange Storm Alerts in Tuscany and Milan: What to Change Today

Tuscany is under an orange thunderstorm warning from midnight until 6 PM on 10 September, with a yellow warning extending to northern and central parts of the region from this afternoon, according to The Florentine. The warning covers the whole region, so inland plans are not automatically safer than coastal ones.

Milan is on the same footing. A second storm hit the city, a tree came down onto parked cars and injured a woman, water reached the Pirellone, and the orange alert stayed in force with parks closed and some events cancelled, MilanoToday reports.

Rethink the outdoor day, keep the rest

If you booked a day in the Tuscan countryside, today is the day to swap it. Hill towns, vineyard tours and long walks between villages are exactly what an orange warning disrupts. Keep Florence as your base and spend the wet hours indoors, then try the countryside tomorrow.

Tuscany's warning lifts at 6 PM, so the afternoon is the stretch worth rewriting first.

In Milan the change is smaller but immediate. Parks are shut, so a run in one of the big green spaces is off, and some public events have been dropped from the calendar.
